A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokeswoman said today he was treated for minor injuries at the Bangkok Christian Hospital and was expected to be released soon.
“Consular staff from the Australian embassy in Bangkok visited him at the hospital on April 22 to provide him with consular assistance,” the spokeswoman said.

Authorities said five grenades were fired from within the Red Shirts’ sprawling base in Bangkok’s shopping and hotel district, which had been fortified in recent days with sharpened bamboo stakes and piles of car tyres.

But the Reds, demonstrating in Bangkok for weeks to topple Mr Abhisit’s government, have ruled out talks until the military withdraws.
